On March 26, 2025, Lara Merjane delivered a continuing professional development (CPD) session at the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) as part of Corporate Law Essentials Part II: Life Cycle of a Corporation – A Practical Guide.
This three-hour CPD featured a roster of experienced practitioners providing practical guidance to junior and mid-level lawyers on advising corporate clients across all stages of the corporate lifecycle.
The program covered a wide range of corporate law topics, including:
- Choosing the right jurisdiction and structure at the time of incorporation
- Managing corporate amendments and reorganizations
- Understanding procedures for amalgamation and continuance
- Addressing corporate dissolutions and revivals under Ontario and federal law
Lara’s session focused on one of the more technical stages in this lifecycle, providing guidance on corporate governance considerations and statutory compliance when transitioning an entity between legislative regimes.
Chaired by Anna Naud (True North Law) and Caroline Bedard (Low Murchison Radnoff LLP), the program is part of the OBA’s Corporate Law Essentials series, developed to support business law professionals in delivering clear, effective advice throughout the corporate lifecycle.
